Another Reason to be cheerful
Propellerhead Software in Sweden are true innovators. I’ve used their products right from the very start. First Rebirth, then Recycle, then the almighty Reason and now here I am in possession of Record; the latest mind-blowing application from those Swedish coders.
I’ve always dreamt of this day but never thought it would happen. Reason’s weak link was always that it didn’t have any Audio line-in functionality. To overcome this you needed to ‘Rewire’ Reason/Rebirth into your Audio Sequencing app (Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, etc)
Using the ‘Rewire’ route does work. Very well in-fact. But to me it always feels awkward, having that slave application sat behind the scenes waiting for his ‘part’ as it were.
Record is going to change all of this.
Now whether Record is any good that remains to be seen. If Propellerhead’s previous products are anything to go by then I forecast another legend in the making. I’m not saying I’m going to be spending all my time in Record and only Record. I’m just saying there’s an amazing piece of new Music Technology released this week from one of the most forward-thinking and efficient Software houses on the planet. It’s cost me 129 euro’s for my version (as I am already a Reason owner) I know for a fact I’ll get 129 euro’s worth of fun and enjoyment out of it in the first month.
So my package from the vikings arrived this morning – only 1.5 days after ordering it from Sweden (I told you they were efficient!) I installed the app, authenticated the ‘ignition key’, plugged in my guitar and away we go.
First impressions… I love it. It sounds amazing, it looks 23rd Century and it functions like a dream.
My only disappointment is that the sun is shining down outside as we enjoy what could be the last days of summer. How can I go out now that Record has arrived!
